The Peach Earth Tiger Tarantula (Aspinochilus rufus) is a striking, recently described Old World tarantula native to Southeast Asia, specifically the dense primary montane rainforests of Mount Argopuro in East Java, Indonesia. It was formally described in 2024, but it has been known in the tarantula hobby under the name Phormingochilus sp. rufus for years. Known for its reddish coloration (giving the name “rufus”), minimal leg spines, low head, and narrow clypeus — distinguishing it from close relatives like Citharognathus and Ornithoctonus.
